Lemon botanical prints entered European art through the tradition of scientific illustration — the detailed studies of plant specimens produced for naturalists and physicians from the 16th century onward. By the 18th and 19th centuries, botanical illustration had become a form of fine art: Maria Sibylla Merian, Pierre-Joseph Redouté, and Georg Dionysius Ehret produced prints that were both scientifically accurate and visually extraordinary. The lemon's bright yellow and glossy leaves made it a recurring subject. This deck updates that tradition in gallery-quality UV print on Grade-A Canadian maple.
