FUCK as typography -- a word that has been categorised as the most versatile in the English language (noun, verb, adjective, exclamation) and has appeared in visual art and graphic design since at least the 1960s. In pop art, the transgressive word rendered in clean graphic form follows the tradition of Ed Ruscha's word paintings and Bruce Nauman's neon text works. The tension between the word's social charge and the calm, aesthetic treatment of the typography is where the piece lives. Printed in gallery-quality UV ink on Grade-A Canadian maple.
