All printed colour fades under sustained ultraviolet exposure, and we haven't had our inks independently tested to a lightfastness standard, so we don't quote a number of years. Out of direct all-day sun, it holds its colour well for a long time — the same as any printed material, on a sturdier, more characterful base.
What goes wrong
1. A wide composition forced onto a single deck. Run the shape test first, or plan for a diptych.
2. A compressed or low-resolution file. Send the original, not a copy pulled from a messaging app or social feed.
3. A photo taken in dim hospital or nursery lighting. Where there's a choice, the better-lit photo usually makes the stronger keepsake, even if the dimmer one feels more sentimental in the moment.
4. Ordering too close to a date. Custom work needs time to prepare and print — order at least a couple of weeks ahead.
