The choice between horizontal and vertical skateboard display begins with the artwork. Some images are composed for a particular direction, and rotating the deck may make them harder to read.
Compare the image directions
A portrait or vertical text often has an obvious intended orientation. A landscape or a divided composition may use a different layout.
Check the product photograph and description before treating the deck as freely interchangeable between directions.
Measure both options
In a vertical display, the deck's length becomes the height. In a horizontal display, that length occupies the width.
For several decks, add the panel dimensions and gaps according to the actual arrangement. Templates make this easier to judge against furniture.
Choose suitable hardware
A mount intended for one direction may not support another. Confirm the permitted orientation, attachment and supporting-wall requirements with the manufacturer.
Do not rotate an existing mount or improvise a cable arrangement simply because the deck looks balanced.
Think about the viewing position
A vertical deck may suit a narrow wall; a horizontal one may relate to a wider piece of furniture. These are layout possibilities, not universal rules.
Check clearance around doors and where the object could be knocked.
Keep a set coherent
If panels make one image, preserve the intended order and alignment. Mixing directions works more freely with independent designs.
Choose the arrangement that respects the artwork and fits the room, then assess the installation separately.
